Ivonne is a Houston transplant by way of Miami,
Florida,where she and husband, Juan, were both born and raised.
A founding sister of her Alpha Xi Delta chapter, Theta Xi at
Florida International University (Miami, FL), Ivonne and her
husband, along with their boxer, Leia, moved to Houston six
years ago after a short stint in Charlotte, NC.
Upon moving to Houston, Ivonne sought out her local Alpha Xi
Delta alumnae association, quickly becoming involved in the
Houston chapter as well as its national philanthropy, Autism
Speaks! Within the alumnae association, Ivonne has
served as Alpha Xi Delta Houston’s Delegate to H.A.P.A., Vice
President, and is currently serving a two year term as
Association President.
Ivonne has also had the distinct pleasure of volunteering on the
Autism Speaks! Houston Walk Committee as Registration
Captain, Autism Speaks 5k/1k Run as a Registration Captain, and
the inaugural Event Chair for the 2019 Chef Gala Autism
Speaks! Houston which raised a whopping $150,000 in its
first year!
Within H.A.P.A. Ivonne has served in many capacities over the
last five (5) years on the road to the Presidency, including
2017-18 Alpha Xi Delta Delegate, 2018-19 Recording Secretary,
2019-20 Treasurer, 2019 Wine Tasting Co-Chair, 2020-21 H.A.P.F.
Trustee,and 2020-21 First Vice President! All of the
ladies of H.A.P.A. have been so supportive and have quickly
become more like family than friends.
The official flower of Alpha Xi Delta is the pink rose,
therefore making each of the ladies a pink rose within the
bouquet know as H.A.P.A.
Ivonne dedicates her year as H.A.P.A. President to two ladies
lost in 2020, Cooky Mays and the incomparable Jennie Vought
Baker. Until we meet again…
